Six Bethlehem Non-profits Partner for Free Back to School Event on August 16th
The National Museum of Industrial History, Bethlehem Area Public Library, Historic Bethlehem Museums and Sites, Artsquest, PBS39, and Cops ‘n’ Kids Lehigh Valley are partnering for a free back-to-school event on Thursday, August 16th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Kids will receive giveaways from the organizations and PBS and Cops ‘n’ Kids Lehigh Valley will be giving away free books. PBS39’s mascot, Telebear, will be in attendance and Artsquest’s Teaching Artist Melissa Perhamus will be instructing kids in a hands-on activity and arts demonstration. In addition, there will be a storytelling component to the program, part of each organization’s goal to promote literacy. “This celebration of literature and art is the perfect way for kids to dive back into the school year. It’s a free, fun event and the participation of so many fantastic Bethlehem non-profits ensures it will be a great day for the whole family,” said Kara Cenni, President and CEO of NMIH.
The event caps off a collaborative summer reading program that had attendees visiting each non-profit’s location to hear storytelling from award-winning children’s books each week.
