This Memorial Day Weekend, Moravian Village is giving back to the community by sponsoring a free day of fun and learning at the National Museum of Industrial History (NMIH). On Saturday, May 25th the Museum will offer free admission and special programs for visitors of all ages thanks to the generous sponsorship of Moravian Village.

“Moravian Village of Bethlehem is proud to be able to partner with the National Museum of Industrial History and offer this educational community day to the Lehigh Valley,” said Dan Soos, Chief Executive Office of the Bethlehem Area Moravians and Affiliates.  “For over 275 years, the Moravian Community has been a leader in promoting education and preserving history for the benefit of the Citizens of Bethlehem and the larger Lehigh Valley Community.  By exposing today’s youth to the technological achievements of the past, we hope to inspire the next generation of inventors, teachers, scientists and future leaders.”

With its diverse collection of more than 200 industrial artifacts, including over 20 artifacts from the Smithsonian Institution’s collection, and a variety of oral histories and dynamic interactives, the National Museum of Industrial History provides a unique educational experience in a sensory rich environment. Community Appreciation Day scheduled events include youth coloring activities, raffle prizes, special screenings of the “Men at Lunch” documentary at 10:30am and the “Life and Times of Rosie the Riveter” documentary at 1:30pm, and $5 guided tours at 2pm. In addition to the Museum’s permanent displays, special exhibits “Don’t Touch That Dial: 100 Years of Radio” and “Forging Communities: The Changing Landscape of South Bethlehem” will be on view.
