Meet the Experts: Behind the Scenes, Setting Up a Museum Exhibit

Meet the Experts: Behind the Scenes, Setting Up a Museum Exhibit
Saturday, December 16th 11am to 12pm

Much like the latest Hollywood blockbuster, museum exhibits require months, sometimes years of work by a dedicated cast of staff and volunteers, before the exhibit finally débuts to the general public. Behind the Scenes, Setting Up a Museum Exhibit reveals the behind the scenes secrets of developing, researching, designing and staging museum exhibits.

Join Kathleen Coddington, whose passion for history and historical clothing led her to the Northampton Historical and Genealogical Society after she retired as a middle school librarian for the Easton School District.  A Civil War reenactor and living historian and published author, she serves not only as the Program Director for the Society’s historical Mixsell House Museum, but is also the Conservation and Preservation Coordinator for the society’s historical costume collection.  She has assisted with the planning and installation of several of the recent exhibits at the Society’s Sigal Museum, including its latest, The Cat’s Meow, Art Deco and the Roaring Twenties in the Lehigh Valley.

The Meet the Expert series takes place on the third Saturday of each month. This unique opportunity to hear thematic talks from experts in their respective fields will include a 45-minute lecture and 15-minute Q&A. Meet the Experts is included in your admission price and is free to all members of the museum.
